Update of the Free University's "Idealist" Links for International Organizations, Jobs, Volunteer Opportunities, & Internships

G'Day TIGers --

All of The Civic Action Free University's "Idealist" links for International Organizations, Jobs, Volunteer Opportunities, Programs, Events, & Internships were updated today.  I hope you will find some items of interest:

http://www.angelfire.com/ca4/yourturf/worldcivactnet01.htm#Regions

It may be noted that links for regional directories of the world's National Councils for Sustainable Development are no longer functioning.  These links will be either updated or removed, as soon as it can be determined whether the regional directories are still operative.  Links may be added for the sustainable development councils of individual nations instead, since many of these organizations and their web sites still appear to be active:

If you have questions, comments, or suggestions, please let me know.

Community & Economic Development Team Members -- Your Favorite Hobby and Recreational Interests

G'Day All --

When not working, attending classes, or sleeping, are there any hobby or recreational activities in which you are passionately interested ??

Are you enthusiastic about photography, cooking, gardening, soccer, fishing, playing a musical instrument, or hiking and camping ??  Would you find it enjoyable to meet up on-line with Community and Economic Development Team Members elsewhere who share your interests ??

That's the reason The Civic Action Free University provides a Hobby and Recreation Forum:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ca4ythobbynrecreationforum/

As an upgrade to the site, folders for a wide variety of specific hobby and recreational activities will soon be added to its Links section, where you are invited to upload links to the best sites on the 'Net for your particular area(s) of interest.

What topics would you like to see included among these folders ??

To serve as examples, I've already added folders for Canoeing & Kayaking and Gardening.  If these are topics you care about, what links should be included in these two folders ??

If you choose to join the Forum, you can place any other folders you want to have added by just following the prompts that are provided.  Or let me know which ones to add, and I'll be glad to do it for you.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ca4ythobbynrecreationforum/links/

I hope you will find the above information to be of interest.  If you have questions, comments, or suggestions, please let me know.

Best wishes,  Dave Matthews

Your Holiday Greeting from The Civic Action Free University

G'Day All --

The Civic Action Free University's traditional holiday greeting is a little late this year -- quite a bit of updating was necessary.

http://www.tcafu.org

A couple of links remain problematic, but have been retained because the web pages in question are very good ones and seem likely to be back in operation soon.

I hope you can access the site from a computer with sound capability, and that you'll find some material that you enjoy.  If you know others who might like to receive it, please pass it along to them.

Best wishes to you and yours for joyful holidays, and a happy prosperous New Year !!

For Your Holiday Enjoyment -- "Classics Illustrated"

G'Day All --

Even though I'm chiefly engaged in attempting to disseminate information, every now and then I come across a web site so outstanding that -- just like Ebenezer Scrooge  ("...that squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous old sinner!") -- I'm inclined to say,  "This is such a treasure, I ain't showin' it to nobody.  Its MINE, all MINE !!"

But this holiday season, I'm gonna try to do better.  So here's one of the best sites from my secret personal stash -- "Classics Illustrated":

http://classics-illustrated.com/

Check it out and see what you think.

If you're already familiar with it and its just "old hat" -- well then, open up your own personal collection of super-splendiferous web treasures and lay one of them on us !!

Also, don't forget to try the "Viva Civic Action Season's Greetings" Music Station, at:

http://www.soundclick.com/stations/stations.cfm?id=273052

Happy holidays to all !!

You Can Open This Present Early -- Viva Civic Action Season's Greetings Music Station

You can open this present early --

http://www.soundclick.com/stations/stations.cfm?id=273052

The station provides a varied on-line playlist likely to delight (and possibly upset ??) almost everyone.  At least, I can confidently predict you'll hear a few interesting new arrangements of traditional favorites that you have never encountered before (including heavy metal versions of "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Deck the Halls," and "The Little Drummer Boy") !!

If you have a high speed connection, you should be able to play the whole collection in either "Hi-Fi" (in sequence), or "Hi-Fi Shuffle" (for variety).  Low speed connections will get reasonably good sound quality on "Lo-Fi" or "Lo-Fi Shuffle."  Any item on the playlist can, of course, be played individually if you wish.

If you are playing the whole list but get to a selection you don't care for, just go to the little Soundclick MP3 Player box on your screen and click on the next number.  This enables you to continue with the full sequence without having to go back and start it all over again.

Many of the selections are available for free legal download (click on the respective performer's link to find out).

The current playlist is lacking in content for Hanukkah, Ramadan, Kwanza, and other relevant mid winter holiday observances.  This is because the SoundClick service is relatively new and its archives of available MP3 files are still developing.  If you know bands or performers that might like to "plug in" to SoundClick's program and make a wider diversity of material available, please encourage them to do so.

This music station site -- like any other -- can be bookmarked and/or forwarded to other recipients you think would be likely to enjoy it.

Hope you'll find one or two numbers that you like !!  (The Civic Action Free University's standard guarantee applies, namely:  "Money back if not satisfied.")

Happy holidays to all,  Dave Matthews
