College and University Students -- Media for Communication Around the World

G'Day All --

If you have not seen them previously, here are some Yahoo! directories to facilitate free and open communication among College and University Students around the world:

1.  College and University Newspapers
http://www.angelfire.com/ca6/yourturf4/univnewspapers.html

2.  College and University Radio Stations
http://www.angelfire.com/ca6/yourturf4/univradiostations.html

3.  College and University Yahoo! E-Mail Groups
http://www.angelfire.com/ca6/yourturf4/univemailgroups.html

These are potentially powerful resources.  Try challenging yourself to see how many different ways they could be utilized for constructive and worthwhile purposes !!

If you would like a suggestion to help stimulate your thoughts, try reviewing the "Invitation and Challenge" that you will find on the following web page:

http://www.angelfire.com/ca6/yourturf4/tcafustudentnets.html

But if that particular task doesn't "ring your bell," use your own creative abilities to think of other approaches that you like better.

If you have some good ideas, share them with the rest of us !!

Best wishes,  Dave Matthews

Holiday Greeting

G'Day All --

For anyone who missed it previously --

http://civact6.tigblog.org/post/77383

A humorous note:

In the first version of the greeting page, the initial music track was from an old 78 RPM record.  It was a little scratchy, but I thought it gave the greeting a sort of nice "old-timey" feel.

What I didn't realize was that most young folks today have never heard a scratchy old 78 RPM record, and the sound it produces doesn't have any "old-timey" connotations whatsoever for them.

Consequently, all they were hearing was "... an awsomely bad sound track -- and why on earth would I want to put something like that into a holiday greeting ....??"

As a result I've changed the track in question.  The new one is a pretty large file and may take a little while to download, but I think you'll probably enjoy it.  Anyway, I hope so !!

Best wishes to all,  Dave Matthews

Tips:  Because the Civic Action Free University site is quite extensive, the best way to familiarize yourself with it is to print it out -- then use a highlighter pen to mark the specific items that are of interest, so you can go back and explore those sections on-line.

Another approach that some visitors find helpful is to go directly to the Free University's "Topic-Focused E-Mail Groups," at:

http://www.angelfire.com/ca4/yourturf/civactnet.htm#Topic-Focused

... and review the range of subjects covered, to see if you find any that are of interest.

You are cordially invited to visit, explore, join, and actively participate in any aspects of The Civic Action Free University that are relevant to your interests and concerns.
