Easy Way to Match Your Needs and Interests on the Free University's Virtual Campus

G'Day All --

Item 1:  Easy Way to Match Your Needs and Interests on the Free University's Virtual Campus

If you haven't explored The Civic Action Free University's virtual campus recently, you're cordially invited to do so.  A lot has been added in recent months.

A critic recently commented that there's so much material on the site, when she pulls it up on her computer screen it just makes her eyes glaze over.  She asked, "What's the easiest way to find items that are most relevant to my specific needs and interests ??

Each person may have his/her own preferred way of answering that question, but here's my suggestion:  Try printing the site out (its about 15 pages on my printer), and scan over the hard copy with a highlighter pen, marking the portions that you find of greatest interest.  That's the quickest and most comfortable way I know to identify the portions of the site that you'd like to go back and visit in depth on-line.

Remember that our "Money Back Guarantee" applies:  If you like what you see, please tell others.  If you don't -- or if you run into any problems -- please e-mail your "HF" (Humble Facilitator), so an appropriate remedy can be found.

Item 2:  Role Played by *Some* of the Mass Media in Maintaining an Informed Electorate

As we're all aware, an important role of the mass communications media in a democratic society is that of providing news and information to ensure that the electorate is well informed about significant issues facing the nation.  Below is a humorous flash presentation that illustrates the extent to which *some* of the communications media are fulfilling that responsibility.

Two versions are provided so you can choose the one that plays best on your system.  Sound capability is helpful, but not essential to get the point.  The version with an "swf" suffix gives full-screen presentation, but normally requires a high speed connection:

I hope you'll find the above material to be useful.  If you have questions, comments or suggestions, please share them.
